#Gunslinger stratos game failed series
Adapted from the manga adaption of an old novel series, which also has an old OVA series adaptations before, no doubt there will be plenty of comparisons with the other two works. Other than the eyes of Arslan being too big at times I really like the art direction this show has. The episode ended on a cliffhanger, the eve of his first battle, which is a pretty good hook for letting us anticipate his performance in the next episode. There were some tension with his parents, and some eye opening conflicts in belief with the boy from another nation. Through a crazy event we saw the prosperity of the capital itself, and the mentality which it differs from the enemy nation. Our prince is a kind yet naive boy, and puts himself into danger very easily. It’s a time set 3 years before main event, and this crucial encounter may change a lot of things, or just one of the run-of the-mill character introductions. In a war ravaged continent, we watch on the Prince of a powerful nation as he had an encounter with a captive of the enemy soldier. It’s just nonsensical in a bad way, and downright boring. Not even Kamiyan’s voice acting could carry this show. Overall, definitely not impressed at all. I understand that this is for kids mostly, but it just could not be more blunt in its storytelling. The story is already this weak, so having a weak visual is not doing it any favours. It’s just one of those old school jank without the charm. The character models look cheap and unconvincing, and I can’t recall any good moments of animation here. This show looks really really ugly however.

It did just cover one student’s story, and with the way these type of story goes there will be more individual student focused episodes to come. I do like the trick used to get familiarise with the dynamic of the new group of students, but other than that it’s typical affairs that aren’t really all that interesting to begin with. The story progression is pretty much an orthodox one without any surprises. It does have a weird denpa, but it failed to capture my attention. Otaku becoming a good teacher….While it tackles the usual topic of bullying, the means of doing it is pretty childish and stupid. I’m willing to give it another try since the main story only start next week, but I’m not really enthused about this show at the moment. Everything just feel subdued in this first episode. Visually it also doesn’t have much of the polish nor the flair we tend to associate this studio with. It felt well controlled, even though some tracks still feel out of place. It feels really chuuni at the moment, but not too stinky for me to hate it.Īs someone who got really tired of Sawano’s music, it’s surprisingly pleasant given the lack of obnoxious tracks in this first episode. Given the promotional materials, I’m expecting another dual protagonist setup from the writer, but that’s not always guarantee for good results. It’s bloody in its own right, and serves a valid motivation for the stubborn bloodlust for our protagonist. All the cannon fodders managed to create a good tension, but with timeskip they don’t really attribute to much continuation. In a world where the human adults are all wiped out by virus and there are bishie douchie vampires roaming around, this episode centres around the 3 years prior where he and his ‘family’ got rounded up by the enemies and became supplies for blood. Then again, it’s not that big of an intriguing question either.Īnd that’s the origin story done. This episode certainly has a decent flow, but other than that I’m struggling to come up with any reason to look forward to episode 2 other than they giving out the truth behind the world split. Everything about this episode is pretty unremarkable except the setup, but at least the combat got a sense of motion instead of just flash and no substances. The characters just look so ugly and cheap, and don’t really feel lively at all. Given its nature as a game story with possibly no true ending, I just wonder where would it end up. The reason behind said battles are yet to be revealed, but at least it’s giving it a slight hook. In other words, it’s the battles between 1P and 2P colours in the fighting game. It didn’t push its agenda too much as yet, sets up nicely for the impending conflict with the two versions of main characters. Set in the future world with a gamy aspect and a massive mystery undertone, the pacing toward the reveal at the end is done better than I’d expected. I had no prior expectations, so it makes it easier to surpass it. Surprisingly this is a lot more depressing than I thought it would be. Second verse dedicates to the real peeps, What we got to say is so real thing ’cause, Revolution ain’t never gonna televise, Kicking the mad flow, microphone phenotype.
